My heart is like an ice box

My heart is like an ice box

There’s no beating inside
No movement;
Just ice.

There’s no emotions,
No feelings;
Just empty vials
And ripped open packages in its place.

I’m not numb, I’m frozen.

When you’re numb feelings
Come back, cheerfulness restored .
The chatter
Laughter
Joy, all reassume their seats at the dinner table.

But when you’re frozen-
There’s damage that’s left.
PainHeartacheDarknessInsomniaAnger
There is no new normal.

No seasonal spring comes
To defrost all the heartache and ice.

You’re stuck in winter
Endlessly.

  1. Love can make us cold and lonely. I believe good to clear the head and come alive in the emotion of love when you are ready. I like the honest and direct feel in the poem. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
